Automotive Airbag Leak Testing

Automotive Components such as airbags are inflated by gas produced during the combustion of pyrotechnic material or by releasing stored gas. A leak present in an airbag inflator will deteriorate its performance either by ingression of moisture or loss of pressure. Leaks this small can only be detected by using a tracer gas and a mass spectrometer leak detector.
